Mobilizing Justice Community of Practice Workshop

June 4, 2022

The Centre for Active Transportation (TCAT) identified CAN (LET’S) as an organization doing work related to transportation equity. They reached out to invite us to be part of As such, I am excited to reach out to you as part of Mobilizing Justice, a five-year Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) project investigating transportation inequities in Canadian cities and developing tools and resources for more equitable transportation outcomes.
here.

To support this work, TCAT is convening a series of Community of Practice workshops in fall 2022 to connect researchers with community-led transportation organizations and advocates from across the country who are working on initiatives to address transportation inequity and increase modal choice, especially for communities or populations that lack access to affordable, safe, and convenient mobility options. Their goal is to better understand community priorities, gaps, strategies, and initiatives related to transportation equity, as well as to create effective two-way communication between Mobilizing Justice researchers and organizations working on the ground.

Prior to the autumn workshops, TCAT chose 5-10 transportation related community organizations, from a list of over 100, and CAN (LET’S) was one of the organizations. We have worked with them to assist in co-creating the workshops and identifying the most impactful formats for sharing information. The interviews were conducted in June. CAN (LET’S) will continue to be involved, including attending the Autumn workshops. Updates to come.
