BCIT Building a Neuroinclusive Campus: A Panel Discussion

In collaboration with BCIT’s Diversity Circles, LET’S’ Founder and Executive Director Heather McCain participated in Building a Neuroinclusive Campus: A Panel Discussion. The event, held virtually, centered on strategies for supporting neurodivergent students and staff across campus environments.

Panelists highlighted the importance of flexibility, trauma-informed practices, and strengths-based approaches in higher education. The discussion provided actionable insights for educators and administrators to create truly equitable learning and working spaces where neurodivergent individuals can thrive.

Zenith Bose

 

Zenith Bose (she/her), Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training Specialist for Researchers

Bio: With over 14 years of experience in higher education, Zenith specialize in advancing Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA) initiatives through strategic planning, employee development, and student-centred program design. Zenith is passionate about creating equitable environments where every individual feels empowered to succeed, using data-driven insights and stakeholder collaboration to drive sustainable change.

Heather McCain (they/them), Founder & Executive Director, Live Educate Transform Society (LET’S)

Bio: Heather is the founder and Executive Director of Live Educate Transform Society (LETS), a non-profit they started in 2005. Heather built LETS from a small grassroots organization in 2 communities to an organization delivering workshops and adding their voice to projects and events across Turtle Island (colonially known as North America).

Heather has a great reputation within the disabled, neurodivergent, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities for passionately working on their behalf. Community members trust Heather with their stories and experiences, knowing that Heather honours that trust by utilizing their voices to inform their work and the work of LETS.

Claudine Warburton (she/her), Instructional Development Consultant, BCIT Learning & Teaching Centre

Bio: Experienced Education Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. Skilled in Instructional Design, Project Management, Program Evaluation, and Curriculum Development. Strong community and social services professional with a MEd focused in Educational Leadership from Simon Fraser University
