In March of 2025, LET’S was represented at an ArQuives event as part of Community Ties: Our Future Together, launched to help ArQuives assess their current capacity, identify opportunities for growth, and plan strategically for the future. This project is a part of our ongoing effort to grow The ArQuives’ national presence and strengthen their ability to serve communities across Canada through expanded programming and services.
“As part of this work, we held community conversations in cities across the country, hosted online consultations, and met one-on-one with folks from coast to coast to coast. We met with 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, activists, artists, researchers, and local leaders to learn more about regional histories, priorities, and the ways stories are shared and preserved in their communities. These conversations helped us explore how The ArQuives can better support local initiatives and better serve as a national memory-keeping institution for 2SLGBTQIA+ life and history in Canada.
In each city we visited, we also facilitated a zine-making workshop. Participants created individual pages reflecting the spirit, creativity, and concerns of their communities. These contributions were brought together into the 12 zines featured in this exhibition and present a vibrant portrait of the collaborative expression of queer and trans life across Canada.”
