LET’S taught their third of three workshops to BGC. The 1st workshop was Breaking Barriers, the 2nd was Neurodiversity at Work, and this month’s workshop was 2SLGBTQIA+ Canada History.
2SLGBTQIA+ Canada History Description
Learning Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ history helps to combat erasure, increase awareness and knowledge of the broad spectrum that is gender and sexuality, and celebrate the many brave people who came before us and those who continue to fight for our rights.
The workshop covers changing laws and attitudes, milestones, provincial and country firsts, and the stories of amazing advocates and change-makers. We will discuss how many marginalized voices have been left out of conversations and historical narratives. Our workshop will recognize and celebrate the important, interconnected communities fought for their (and our) rights.
About BGC
For over 85 years, Boys and Girls Club has been giving children and youth what they deserve: a place to belong when they aren’t at home or in school. To kids, their Club feels like a place where they can hang out with their friends, and make new ones! But it’s so much more. It’s a safe place that provides them with three of the things they need most: a sense of belonging, a sense of success, and positive relationships. That happens through a wide range of activities that are not only of interest to kids, but that are good for them, too: sports, homework, safe access to the online world, arts, crafts, and of course, sharing meals.
