SFU DNA (Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance)
In late 2025, Live Educate Transform Society (LET’S) and Women Transforming Cities (WTC) delivered their co‑created workshop Disability Justice and Local Government: Tools for Change to the SFU Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance (DNA). SFU DNA is a student‑led collective committed to accessibility, inclusion, and advocacy for disabled and neurodivergent students across Simon Fraser University’s campuses.
The session engaged students, staff, and faculty in exploring how disability justice intersects with civic engagement and local governance. Through critical dialogue and shared learning, participants reflected on the power of lived experience to influence urban policy and design accessible, interdependent communities.
This collaboration strengthened connections between community advocacy and academic spaces, highlighting how disability justice frameworks can guide meaningful participation – from municipal decision‑making to campus leadership.
