Qmunity

LET’S delivered a workshop for Qmunity focused on disability justice and neurodivergent inclusion within 2SLGBTQIA+ community work. The session explored how ableism and sanism intersect with anti-queer bias, transism, racism, and other forms of oppression in 2SLGBTQIA+ spaces. Participants considered who gets centered and who is unintentionally left out when events, services, and organizing assumes a certain level of energy, sensory tolerance, and/or communication styles.

We discussed practical ways Qmunity can better support disabled and neurodivergent community members – from event design and communication to program policies and internal culture. The workshop also highlighted the importance of disabled and neurodivergent leadership within queer and trans organizations, not just inclusion as service users. Together, we identified concrete next steps Qmunity can take to embed disability justice into its work across programs and decision-making.
