Urban Systems

Urban Systems invited LET’S to facilitate a workshop on neurodiversity in response to growing interest within the organization to better understand and support neurodivergent colleagues and clients.

The session was designed for participants with varying levels of familiarity, offering accessible entry points while still challenging assumptions about what “professionalism” and “good communication” look like. We spoke about autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodivergent experiences in the context of consulting, planning, and technical work.

Participants reflected on how workplace structures – from meetings and deadlines to performance reviews and informal norms – can create barriers or opportunities for neurodivergent staff.

The workshop provided practical suggestions for more equitable practices, such as offering agendas in advance, diversifying ways people can contribute, being intentional about sensory environments, and reframing difference as a strength rather than a liability.

Urban Systems’ request for this workshop is in the broader interest of building workplaces where a wider range of brains and bodies can thrive.
